Throughout her career as an Executive Chef and pioneer, Thilde Gilling Andersen has shaped and elevated the profiles of several highly regarded restaurants, both domestically and internationally.
In her home region of the North, Chef Gilling Andersen is known and recognized for her contributions to celebrated establishments such as Kolonihagen Frogner, Restaurant Carl Nielsen, and Norrlyst, among others.
A career marked by prominent publications, magazine covers, awards, and nominations—including Danish Lunch Restaurant of the Year and Norwegian Restaurant of the Year— underscoring her continued influence and excellence in the field.
Known as a trailblazer, Chef Gilling Andersen has, in recent years, garnered increased attention and recognition in a broader public landscape — appearing on television, radio, in nationwide educational publications, podcasts, panels, and notably as a Guest Judge on MasterChef.
In the winter of 2023, Chef Gilling Andersen reached iconic status, accepting the prestigious Honorary Award from the Danish Culinary Guide, for outstanding contributions to the industry and her mastery of smørrebrød.
To this day, Gilling Andersen remains the only Danish chef to have reached a star rating, with her expertise in Denmark’s national dish and culinary heritage: Smørrebrød.
In Denmark, she is affectionately known as “The Queen of Smørrebrød” and “Tyremor” (Mother of Bulls).
